Study Shows iTunes Domination in Japan
Japan has the world’s highest user base of iTunes subscribers, as per a newly released comScore study.
The study found that 13.6 million people, a 23.7% of Japan’s Internet users, accessed iTunes at some point during August.
Japan ranks higher than even the US, where 19.6% had used the application, with Great Britain actually being in second place with 23.4%. The worldwide average percentage was only 11.2%.
The figures may be somewhat biased since comScore defines the Internet user base as individuals of ages 15 and above, and excludes people using only mobile phones, PDAs, or Internet cafes. As a result, iTunes usage in Japan could be skewed in Japan due to the high numbers of cell phones in that country.
The presence of Apple products and services in the Japan is believed to have increased due to the release of iPhone.
Election Moves from YouTube to Twitter
While America goes to vote today, many of the voting public are ‘tweeting’ updates on their phones using the Twitter vote report. This page allows voters to report that they have voted, or any problems with the polling stations or staff during this historic election.
The 2-year election process starting with the primaries to actual election day has been documented vastly on YouTube. The videos included both homemade content of satire as well as clips from the TV stations, both for and against either candidate.
Today however, the elections are covered differently using the microblogging website Twitter and voters’ cell phones. Many of the reports mention the long lines of people waiting to vote and of any problems with the voting staff or machines.
For example, kbmiller65 said: “tweeted from Palo Alto California via an iPhone - Paper ballot scanner [was] broken, folded [the] ballot and put it through slot in box with other ballots. Sure hope they count it.”
