A File Extension Resource
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I’m always looking for resources that will teach me more about the inner workings of my computer, and also help it to run more efficiently. That’s why I just spent a good deal of time browsing around a website called File Extension Library. The website offers a vast amount of knowledge that will certainly feed the tech area of your brain, and least it did for mine!
One thing in particular that I took some time to read up on is file extension ABK, and frankly I didn’t realize how much there is to learn until I started reading. What’s really helpful is that after an intro to what file extension ABK is, they provider further pages with additional help. One such page offered a free scan to check for ABK errors, and another gave advice on how to open ABK files. The website is full of comprehensive little details such as these.
If you go to the website’s homepage you’ll notice how simple it is to navigate, as you can easily access information pages on over 50 file extension types just from one click. No endless searching or frustration is required, and that’s why I’ll continue to use the File Extension Library website as a strong resource.
Gmail Becomes Stronger - Adds Video
Gmail is making itself a lot more feature-rich by incorporating a free voice and video chat into its email program. News I’m sure eBay owned Skype is not too thrilled about.
Gmail users are now able to communicate with friends, family, co-workers, whoever, through a video screen on their computer, and speakers. Making the service very Skype-like, they are also able to instant message contacts through the interface.
What’s also neat is that the video screen’s size is able to be expanded, and moved around, even outside of the chatbox. There’s also a full-screen mode (I don’t believe Skype offers such?), for a more in-person type experience.
As someone who has used Skype regularly for years now, I see no reason not to try out the new Google service. If others share this opinion, it could certainly mean bad news (or even the end) for Skype. FYI, Ebay bought Skype back in 2005 for a whopping $2.6 billion dollars - they have since admitted to overpaying, as Skype has never quite lived up to its large pricetag.
Finally, We Can Get BigBird Online
Hey, if you have kids this is important news! PBS, upon their thirty-ninth year, is now allowing their Sesame Street content to be broadcast online via YouTube, Hulu and Itunes.
Episodes are reasonably priced at $1.99 (USD) a piece, with episodes from the 35th season forward being made available first. If you’re looking for old school sesame street, currently those are being sold on DVD, and will not be available (yet) through YouTube, Itunes or Hulu.
And it gets better. YouTube plans to offer a Seasame Street channel featuring hundreds of the most popular, and significant, small segments of the show. All in all, a win for educational programming as well as online multimedia.
