Beware Of A New Facebook Worm!
You guys should all be aware of a worm-type virus that is hitting a number of Facebook users lately. While it has only affected a small percentage of users, the virus is quite an annoyance, and could possibly intercept private information, so you’ll want to be sure to avoid it.
It’s being called the Koobface virus, and hits the user through Facebook messages. The message says something to the nature of “check yourself out in this video” (this may not be the exact wording you receive), and as the user clicks on the link, it directs them to install an upgraded version of Flash. Of course, this is not a real Flash update, and the virus is installed instead.
Fake flash upgrades are becoming increasingly common on the internet, not just in this latest Facebook virus, so be extra caution of them. I recommend visiting the official Flash website when looking to do any upgrades.
To avoid the Facebook Koobface virus, be sure to not open any attachments from those you don’t know, and use extra caution if you receive a message with a title similar to the one mentioned above. Be safe out there, guys!
