How many blogs is it feasible for one person to maintain? As someone who has many interests and passions, there are a variety of topics that I would like to write about.  However, I tend to create niche blogs for those interests as its my experience that readers perfer such over a mismatch of articles on one site. This limits the amount of topics that I am able to write about.

The other day I considered beginning a new blog which would focus on productively tips, something along the lines of a zenhabits, or even lifehacker. However, then I had to consider, would I have the time to devote to an additional blog, without taking away from my current offerings?

People like fresh new content, and with that in mind, let’s say each blog should be updated a minimum of once every week. Of course, this needs to be quality content, which takes time to produce, and in my opinion is the main purpose of having a blog - sharing, what I feel is revelent and useful information to my readers.

Besides acutal writing and maintence, there is time that needs to go into promotion. Such as joining communities like blogcatalog and Entrecard. I mean, it would be a shame for useful content not to be read, so we need to ensure that there is an effort made to bring traffic to our blogs.

With all that in mind, I decided that my plate is too full to begin another blog. For now, at least. I would say for a hobby blogger, it would be hard to maintain more than three. A problogger however, might be able to maintain seven or eight - depending on when burnout begins, I suppose. Personally, as my situation has changed, I keep three blogs, and occasionally write for two others whcih I share with a friend - and that’s certainly plenty for me.
