Be Careful When Buying Domain Names
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Recently I took to buying some domains off of the digital point forums, and learned a lot throughout the process. I covered some of my initial learnings in a post titled, Buying Domains Off Of Digital Point, and suggest for you to give it a read if you are new to buying domains.
However, today I learned another valuable lesson, which is: when buying a domain with PR, mostly for its PR value, ensure the domain has not been recently dropped.
When a domain with pagerank is dropped, often a savvy internet user will pick it up, and turn it around for a quick sale. However, unfortunately, as Google is aware when a domain name has been dropped, they often lose their pagerank within a few weeks. When buying a domain, you can use who.is to find out the site’s creation date, and it is recent, there is a good chance that the domain was, in fact, dropped.
