Entrecard A Year Old - Are You Using It?
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I was surprised that I hadn’t noticed this a few days ago, but as reported on Entrecard’s offical blog, the blogging community site has now made it to the one year mark.
Personally, I used to frequent Entrecard on an almost daily basis, as it was a good way to get traffic to my newer blogs, however haven’t had the time or inclination to do so recently. This is mostly because my blogs are (knock on wood) receiving a decent amount of traffic from search engines, and I no longer feel the effort put in to Entrecard is worth it for them.
Regardless of my own use or disuse of the service, making it to the one year mark is an important milestone for any dot com, and so, congrats to Entrecard! And really, best of luck for the future.
Entrecard Changes For The Better
I know many of you have been upset by the latest happenings out of Entrecard. Since the release of the company’s “quality standards” many seemingly good quality blogs have been deleted without warning.
And, I suppose, it’s no surprise that many members of the EC community have abandoned ship lately, mostly due to these occurrances. Well, there’s good news now, as it looks like Entrecard will be looking at rules violations… or borderline, possible rules violations, with less of a heavy hand.
Entrecard today announced that they will now grant users some time to fix issues instead of the right-away deletion that was happening. Of course, in the case of an extremely severe violation, users will not be granted that option (you know, like a total spam site, or adult content). However, this should protect those honest users with good intentions from waking up to a surprise “your account has been deleted” email. A step in the right direction, for sure.
News For Entrecarders

For those of you participating in the popular U Drop I Follow campaign, you’ll be happy to know that the movement now has its own plugin. The plugin features your Entrecard widget in addition to one of the U Drop I Follow logos.
The new plugin is currently in beta, with improvements and additional features likely to be added in the future. You can read more at the Entrecard.com blog, here.
While I personally do try to return drops on those in my inbox, I don’t yet have the time to really guarantee a follow-up drop, but when I do, I’ll certainly use the plugin - and what I like about it, is there are plans to rank the droppers using it, so you’ll know who follows through, and who does not.
