Google Compensates Gmail Users for Outage
Google is providing an response for a recent e-mail outage by offering15 days of free service to businesses, government agencies and other subscribers who normally pay for an extended version of the email client. The offer is meant to appease customers who were severed from their e-mail accounts on Tuesday for as long a period as 4 hours. The outage started at 9:30 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time, resulting in less of an effect in the United States, but more inconvenience in Europe and Asia.
Most Internet users who have an online email account with Gmail use the free version. The Mountain View- company offers a more advanced version of Gmail as part of a software bundle that costs $50 on an annual basis per user. Google has offered a 15-day credit to compensate for a less serious e-mail problem last August.
