Happy Birthday, Mac!
Well, sit down and enjoy a slice of cake, as the Macintosh computer turns the big two-five. That’s right, the first Mac was released for sale twenty five years ago! Time sure goes by fast, doesn’t it? The first Macintosh, called the Macintosh 128, was named by an employee who worked on the project, who thought to call it after his favorite apple. It sounds silly, but “Mac” is now a household name world-wide.
As I didn’t own one at the time, I was curious to find out what the first Mac was like, so I might as well share what I found here. The initial Mac computer offering featured 128 kilobytes of RAM as well as an 8 MHz Motorola 68000 microprocessor. It also contained a 3.5 inch floppy drive, as well as a nine inch black and white monitor.
Looking at the old Mac sure made me glad for all the progress computers have made over the years!
