iTunes Makes Easy Money for Hollywood

Apple corporation has reached another milestone. So far, it has sold 200 million TV episodes through iTunes, all within 3 years. NBC has confirmed that the majority of the sales were for its shows. Disney also confirmed in March that it sold through iTunes 40-50 million TV shows.
Overall, video sales through iTunes have increased at a slower rate than music sales. Assuming that each of the 200 million episodes went for $1.99 and that the TV networks kept 70% of the sales, this adds up to $280 million in 3 years.
This amount is essentially easy profit for the Hollywood and New York studios. Since the advertising business is projected to decrease in the foreseeable future, iTunes will provide a much needed revenue stream to the companies involved.
