Mac Users Encouraged To Buy Anti-Virus Software
Apple is advising its Mac consumers to protect themselves by the means of using Anti-virus programs on their computers. This may come as a surprise to some Mac-enthusiasts, as Macs are commonly seen as a “virus-proof” computers, which are not targettable by hackers.
Generally, those who create computer viruses have made them to attack the Window’s OS, likely because it has a long history of dominating the OS market.
However, for those who follow internet-security closely this news may have been expected. There has been a trend of cyber crooks targetting MAC users, notably the AppleScript.THT virus which reeked havoc among a small segment of Mac users. The virus had the ability to log keystrokes and takeover computers.
The following three anti-virus softwares were recommended by Apple: Symantec Norton Anti-Virus 11, Intego VirusBarrier X5 and McAfee VirusScan.
