Working From Home Is Not For Everyone

Do you really want to work from home?

I have been working full-time from home on my six blogs for a little over a month now, and overall I’m quite content. This is probably the happiest I’ve ever been, apart from some joyful time in the womb, and while I’m grateful that things are working out as they are, I can see that working online is not for everyone.

Excuse me?

The reason I feel that I’m able to be a successful web entrepreneur is because I have support, and I’m not doing it alone. I couldn’t stay alone in the house all day and work, so thankfully, my significant other is also my business partner, and we get to do it together. This is great, as we’re both easy-going people and can work and live together harmoniously. This is a must. I imagine some couples might kill each other in a similar situation.

I think what many folks don’t realize is while there are many benefits of being self-employed, there are also drawbacks. Income is not guaranteed and fluctuates monthly, sometimes drastically. If you’re in a tight financial situation, you’ll probably need a “real job” to provide security.

Also, there is the social aspect. If you’re used to working in a big office with lots of people, there will be an adjustment period while getting used to not socializing with the amount of people you were previously. Maybe that’s why there are so many stay at home mom bloggers, I imagine it must fit-in with their lifestyle quite easily.

Overall, I love working from my little (and I do mean little) home office, but would-be web entrepreneurs should be aware, it’s not for everybody.
