Her Name is Windows 7

And we all thought it was just a code-name. The official Microsoft blog has revealed the name of the operating system intended to succeed Vista, and her name is “Windows 7.”
Obviously there’s a lot of buzz surrounding the name, and frankly I think it’s a good one. My hope is that the team at Microsoft is focusing more on the functionality and features of the new OS, rather than just branding and releasing a sub-par software that will (yet again) make people want to run back to XP.
At the end of October, a very early version of the new OS will be shared with those invited to Microsoft’s Professional Developers Conference, and I imagine we’ll hear more details at that time. The public release date is thought to be in late 2009, or possibly early 2010.
